Timing of Loss "We found INSL4-like pseudogenes in killer whale, pig, camel, horse, rhino, flying fox, cat, and dog, confirming that at least traces of an INSL4 gene were present in the last common ancestor of Laurasiatherian mammals. The monophyly of the Laurasiatherian INSL4 pseudogenes suggest they all derive from an already inactive INSL4 copy in the last common ancestor of the group." 10.1016/j.ygcen.2017.07.011

Curator Observations

Functional copiesof INSL4 are only retained in catarrhine primates.
